Handling Tools

Handling Tools play a major part in any modern drilling operation. They are used for suspending, moving and rotating tubulars in and around the well centre and on the drill floor.

Although most these tools are used to dynamically suspend and move tubulars in a vertical direction, some tools, such as the SJH elevator, serve a wider array of function by moving tubulars from horizontal to vertical position

Manual Tongs

The Manual Tongs are used for make up and break out thread connections of drilling string, or casing and tubing by manual operation during drilling or workover. The tong is constructed by a number of lug jaws and pins with a long arm. By change of lugs or adjusting the pin position can alter the handling size of tong, to meet the pipe size to be handled.

All main parts of the manual tongs made by our plants, are cast by vacuum method with special alloy steel, and then well heat treated. They possess the characteristics of lightweight, high toughness and strength, high torque rating, wide applicable range, easy for operation and reliable.

Hydraulic Power Tongs

Our power tongs are used by oilfield service companies to apply torque to make-up / break-out tubular on the rig and are also included in offshore rig packages.

Designed for use on locations where limited working areas, reduced manual handling and running performance is critical, Our Tongs are meets the demand of increasing connection torques with the smallest and lightest power tong available in the market.

The unique jaw design featured in this latest generation power tong enables the user to compensate for nominal pipe diameter variances while saving costs by reducing the selection of jaws required to meet the diverse pipe sizes used in today’s increasingly complex wells.




Drilling elevator is a hinged mechanism that may be closed around drillpipe or other drillstring components to facilitate lowering them into the wellbore or lifting them out of the wellbore.

In the closed position, the elevator arms are latched together to form a load-bearing ring around the component. A shoulder or taper on the component to be lifted is larger in size than the inside diameter of the closed elevator.

In the open position, the device splits roughly into two halves and may be swung away from the drillstring component.



A device used to grip the drillstring in a relatively nondamaging manner and suspend it in the rotary table. This device consists of three or more steel wedges that are hinged together, forming a near circle around the drillpipe.

On the drillpipe side (inside surface), the slips are fitted with replaceable, hardened tool steel teeth that embed slightly into the side of the pipe. The outsides of the slips are tapered to match the taper of the rotary table. After the rig crew places the slips around the drillpipe and in the rotary, the driller slowly lowers the drillstring. As the teeth on the inside of the slips grip the pipe, the slips are pulled down.
